
Terriers Picked Fifth in Hockey East Women's Preseason Poll

BU received 59 points, one more than sixth-place Boston College and six behind fourth-place UConn. Defending champion Northeastern was picked to defend its title, receiving 88 points and eight first-place votes. Vermont (75) and Providence (74) rounded out the top three with Providence and UConn each receiving one first-place vote. The bottom four were Maine (38), New Hampshire (35), Merrimack (28) and Holy Cross (20).
First-year head coach Tara Watchorn will have nine of the team's top 11 point-earners from a 2022-23 season in which the Terriers finished seventh in the league standings with a record of 9-15-3. BU will also welcome 10 newcomers, including six freshmen.
The Terriers will begin the 2023-24 campaign on Oct. 6 when they host Northeastern.
