Former Boston University field hockey All-American Ally Hammel has been named to the U.S. Women's National Team roster for the upcoming Pan American Games Santiago 2023, which will serve as an Olympic qualifying event.

This year's Pan American Games will take place in Santiago, Chile, from Oct. 25 to Nov. 4. Team USA will compete in a group with Argentina, Uruguay and Trinidad & Tobago. The other side of the bracket includes Canada, Chile, Mexico and Cuba.

The winner of the tournament will automatically qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The teams that finish second and third will move on to the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers in January to compete for the final Olympic berths. Team USA is currently ranked 16th in the world.

Hammel, who graduated in 2019 after becoming the first Terrier to twice be named a first-team All-American, has been has been on the USWNT since 2019 and has earned 43 caps.
