No. 3 Terriers Set for Weekend Series with No. 10/11 Providence

The No. 3 Boston University men's ice hockey team will begin a home-and-home series with No. 10/11 Providence on Friday night at Schneider Arena before returning to Agganis Arena on Saturday night. Puck drop on Friday is scheduled for for 7 p.m., with the teams taking the ice on City of Boston Day at 6 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU enters the weekend having dropped a heartbreaker in overtime to Northeastern, 4-3, in the Beanpot title game on Monday night.
- Freshman Macklin Celebrini, sophomore Devin Kaplan and sophomore Lane Hutson each lit the lamp for BU.
- Celebrini leads all rookies and is tied for the overall NCAA lead with 23 goals in addition to being tied for third overall in the country with 42 points.
- He has scored a goal in six straight games and in 10 of his last 11 appearances.
- Hutson leads all NCAA defensemen with 36 points and is second among the nation's blue liners with 11 goals.
- He extended his point streak to six games (1g, 7a) with his goal in the Beanpot final.
- Graduate student Cade Webber leads the NCAA in both blocked shots per game (3.5) and total blocked shots (91).
- Sophomore Jeremy Wilmer has collected an assist in four of his last five games.

SERIES HISTORY
- BU and Providence first met in the 1926-27 season and have played 194 times since that encounter, with the Terriers leading the series, 116-59-19 (.647).
- BU is 21-8-6 against Providence in the teams' past 35 meetings, including a 10-4-6 record over the last 20 contests.
- The teams have played 30 overtime games and the Friars hold a 7-5-19 edge in them, though BU won the last overtime game, a 2-1 decision in the 2023 Hockey East semifinals.
- BU has shut out PC on 19 occasions while only being blanked six times.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS
- Providence has split its last two weekend series with UConn and Maine, with the Friars rebounding from a 2-1 loss in Orono on Feb. 9 by defeating the Black Bears in overtime, 4-3, the next night.
- Senior Nick Poisson leads the Friars in assists (14) and points (21) after providing the primary helper on junior Guillaume Richard's OT goal at Maine last Saturday.
- Senior Chase Yoder paces Providence with nine goals and is third in points (17) behind Poisson and freshman Tanner Adams (5g, 17a).
- No Friar has reached double digit goals but 19 different Providence skaters have found the back of the net this season.
- Sophomore Philip Svedebäck has started all 27 games for the Friars, posting a 2.19 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage.
