WINCHESTER, Mass. - The Boston University women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 victory over UConn Wednesday afternoon. BU secured the doubles point and quickly earned the match win before securing victories on all six singles courts.
Senior Victoria Carlsten and sophomore Nina Gulbransen were first to win in doubles in a 6-1 decision at line two. Soon thereafter, senior Kaitlin Tan and sophomore Emily Zhao clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory at the No. 2 spot.
In singles, BU quickly went up 4-0 with three wins at the top of the lineup. Junior Michelle Kleynerman picked up an efficient 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot and was followed by Carlsten who won 6-1, 6-1 at the top of the lineup. Clinching the match for BU was freshman Uma Bakaityte who took down her opponent 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot. Play continued on the remaining courts with all three Terriers earning another point towards the 7-0 result.
BU will play next on Wednesday, March 13 when it heads to FIU in Miami, Fla.
