ORONO, Maine - The Boston University field hockey team dropped a 5-0 road contest against Maine on Saturday afternoon at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex.
The Black Bears opened the scoring 10 minutes in and then scored late in the second quarter to take a 2-0 halftime lead. Maine pulled away with two tallies in the third quarter before adding another in the final minute of regulation.

Sophie Ortyl made five saves in goal for the Terriers over the first three quarters before freshman
Anna Wilson made her collegiate debut in the final quarter.Â
BU moves to 5-8 on the season while Maine improves to 5-9.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU generated the first shot of the game and the only corner of the first half but the home team was able to open the scoring at the 9:59 mark of the opening quarter.
- Saylor Kuefler made it 1-0 off a pass from Zoe Furber.
- With 2:59 left in the second quarter, Maine's Olivia Geniti pounced on a rebound and put it in to give her team a 2-0 cushion at the half.
- Maine quickly doubled its lead in the third quarter, scoring off a corner at 33:21 before adding another at the 39-minute mark.
- The Black Bears completed the shutout and added one more tally with 39 seconds left in regulation.
GAME NOTES
- Each team earned three corners in the game.
- Maine outshot BU, 14-5.
- Rozarie Mrazova stopped both shots on goal she faced to earn the shutout for Maine
