Terriers Topple Fairfield, 4-3, to Open 2026 Campaign

WEYMOUTH, Mass. — The Boston University men's tennis team opened its season with a 4-3 win over the Fairfield Stags at the Weymouth Club on Saturday evening.

The Terriers (1-0) used four singles wins to triumph over the Stags (0-2) in BU's season opener.

Senior Jakob Esterowitz toppled his opponent at first singles by a 7-6 (4), 6-2 margin. At second singles, sophomore Payton Jim-On made his BU dual debut and won 6-3, 7-6 (4) over his opponent to clinch the match for BU.

The Terriers dropped third and fifth singles but picked up wins at fourth and six singles. Freshman David Asenov went three sets with his opponent and won 6-1, 6-7 (7), 6-1, and sophomore Andrew Andea posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at the sixth spot.

Andea and sophomore Ege Topkoc combined to win the third doubles spot, 6-3, but ththe Terriers were bested at spots one and two.

Next up, BU will host Boston College at the Wellesley Country Club on Friday, Jan. 30 at 5 p.m.
