HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams combined to shoot 3-for-16 from the field before the first media timeout, though Mary Gibbons' three staked Navy to a 6-3 edge halfway through the quarter.
- Semenova found junior Bella McLaughlin in the right corner for a jumper just inside the arc to knot the score at 10-10 just 54 seconds into the second frame.
- Mesuch jumpstarted a 7-1 Navy spurt, however, over the next five minutes as BU struggled with turnovers, establishing a 17-11 lead for the visitors.
- Adler scored all of BU's final nine points in the stanza, converting three baskets and two free throws with 1:32 on the clock to pull BU within 20-19 at halftime.
- The Mids opened the third with a Mesuch three, but Adler's right-elbow jumper and Semenova's layup tied the game. Semenova made two foul shots to put BU on top, 25-23, at the 6:27 mark.
- With 3:30 on the clock, McLaughlin spun through the paint for a layup that also drew a foul. She couldn't hit the free throw, however. Navy responded with two buckets from Barnett-Gay and Maren Louridas' left-block layup to put the Mids on top, 35-29.
- Adler opened the fourth quarter with a layup that sliced the gap to 37-33.
- However, Navy ripped off a 10-0 that got started with Barnett-Gay's triple as well as a steal and lay-in.
- The Mids led by as many as 49-35 before Adler's jumper from McLaughlin's inbound and junior Inés Monteagudo Pardo's transition three brought BU back within single digits halfway through the fourth.
- BU had a chance to cut it to a two-possession game with 2:14 on the timer, but was off on the three-point shot. Moments later, Barnett-Gay intercepted a pass near the BU bench for a layup that extended Navy's lead to 55-44.
- Mesuch's second-chance floater closed out Navy's scoring while sophomore Rose Azmoudeh ended the game with a three-pointer.
