Terriers Upended by Cornell, 12-6

BOSTON — The Boston University women's lacrosse team dropped a midweek contest to the Cornell Big Red, 12-6, Tuesday afternoon at Nickerson Field.
The Terriers (5-5, 1-1 PL) were shut out by the Big Red (5-3, 0-1 Ivy) in the first half, and BU could not recover, despite outscoring them in the second half.
Both junior Tessa Geddes and senior Elle Stevenson scored two goals apiece, and senior Jayne Feeney added a goal and an assist while freshman Makenzie McDevitt scored a goal. In cage, junior Natalie Aiosa made 10 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Terriers (5-5, 1-1 PL) were shut out by the Big Red (5-3, 0-1 Ivy) in the first half, and BU could not recover, despite outscoring them in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Big Red opened the game with a 4-0 run in the first quarter, keeping BU off the board.
- Cornell scored three more times in the second quarter and entered the half leading 7-0.
- The Terriers had a two-minute player-up opportunity with 4:24 remaining in the first but could not generate a goal.
- Cornell started the second half with a goal before the Terriers got on the board.
- Geddes took a pass from junior Reilly Walsh, then curled toward the middle and fired a shot past the keeper with 11:40 left in the third.
- Then after senior Alyssa Mozi picked up a ground ball off a failed Cornell clear, McDevitt went on the run and buried a transition goal to make it 8-2 with 9:36 remaining.
- The Big Red responded with two goals of its own to end the third quarter.
- Stevenson opened the fourth quarter with a free-position goal at 9:15.
- Cornell countered with two goals before Geddes scored on a free position with 6:37 remaining.
- Feeney took the ensuing draw and went down the field to score BU's fifth goal of the game just 13 seconds later.
- Stevenson scored again, this time off a feed from Feeney, but that would be all the Terriers could muster.
- Senior Siri Hodgins recorded her fifth straight game with at least three caused turnovers, causing five on the day.
- BU won the draw control battle, 12-8.
- With her two goals, Stevenson now has 94 career points.
- Geddes has recorded eight multi-point games this season.
- The Terriers travel to No. 22 Loyola Maryland for a matchup on Saturday (March 21).
- Opening draw is set for noon in Baltimore.
