After backstopping the Terriers to three important points in the Hockey East race, junior Jake Oettinger of the men’s ice hockey team has been named the GoTerriers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.
Oettinger stopped 77 of the 79 shots he faced on the week, highlighted by a 45-save effort in a 1-1 draw at No. 8 Providence on Thursday. He added 22 saves in a 5-1 triumph over Merrimack at Agganis Arena on Saturday.
Oettinger is currently the hottest goaltender in the country, posting a .981 save percentage and a 0.60 goals-against average over his past five starts, including a pair of shutouts.
