October 3, 1999 | Women's Soccer
Single goals by sophomore Nicole Soules (Springfield, VA) and junior Deidre Enos (Milton, MA) were not enough as the Terriers women's soccer team bowed to the University of Pennsylvania in the second game of the fifth annual Harvard Invitational on Sunday (October 3rd).
The loss was the second straight for the Terriers, who were edged by nationally-ranked Brigham Young, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped B.U.'s record to 6-5-0 overall.
Each team scored in the first half.
Penn drew first blood when Kellianne Toland scored the first of her two goals when she beat Terrier starting goalie Beth Weisman at 22:47.
Soules, who was voted the Terriers' MVP in the tournament, tied the game for the B.U. at 42:25 with an assist to junior Mary-Beth Magner (Plymouth, MA).
The second half belonged to the Quakers, who scored twice off goalie Meghan Lynch, who was charged with the loss.
The first was scored by Jennifer Valentine at 54:19, while Toland scored her second at 68:44.
Deidre Enos tallied her team-leading eighth goal with just 11 seconds to play in regulation, but it was not enough.
