Boston University Women's Tennis Defeats UMass, 5-1

BOSTON -- The Boston University women's tennis team defeated the University of Massachusetts 5-1 on October 21. With the victory the Terriers improve to 2-0 in dual matches this fall.
Number five singles player Karen Shostakovsky (Atlanta, GA) and number six singles player Christine Cerretani (Reading, MA) led the way in the Terriers victory, each winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
Sophomore Christina Causway (Wilson, NC) had an impressive showing in number two singles winning 6-3, 6-1 over Helena Horak.
Number three singles player Carrie Rose defeated Annie Hamilton in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 and Freshman Alana Marcu (Leonia, NJ) defeated Katie Stammen 6-1, 6-4.
In the team's only loss, number one singles player Selin Nassi was defeated by Ola Gerasimova.
No doubles matches were played because the Terriers had already secured the win.
The Terriers will try to remain undefeated in dual matches as they face off against Yale at home on October 30.
