The Terrier women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 6-3 decision at Boston College on Wednesday, as the Terriers' record slipped to 8-9 for the 1998-99 season. The loss earned a split for B.U. against its arch-rivals, as the Terriers edged the Eagles, 5-4 in the fall.
B.U.'s wins on Wednesday came at numbers five and six singles and number two doubles.
In the singles play, Karen Shostakovsky lost her first set, 3-6, but came back to sweep the next two sets, 6-4, 6-3, to win her match at number five. Then, at number six, Chrissy Cerretani won her match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
One of the most exciting singles matches of the afternoon came at number two where Jennifer Momii lost in three sets, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4.
It was one of four singles matches the Terriers lost, as they trailed the Eagles, 4-2, entering the doubles play.
There, B.U. won at number two doubles where Momii teamed with Carrie Rose to post an 8-4 win.
The Terriers are off now until Sunday morning when they host Syracuse University. The match will be played at the Charles River Courts at 11:00 a.m.
