Towson Sweeps Softball Team

TOWSON, MD - Towson's Chris Napore hit a two-run home run with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Tigers to a 4-2 victory, completing a sweep of visiting Boston University in an America East doubleheader. Towson took the first game, 6-3.
Towson improves to 29-15, 6-4 in America East, while Boston University drops to 25-14, 4-6 in the league. The Terriers have lost four straight games.
In the first game, Towson scored six runs in the fourth inning to highlight a 6-3 victory, its first in seven tries against the Terriers. B.U. scored single runs in the first, second, and fourth innings to stake a 3-0 lead before the Tigers took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth with the help of four hits and two Terrier errors.
Kerry Herr (New Windsor, NY) led the Terriers with three hits and two runs scored. Herr (101 hits) became the ninth player in B.U. history to reach 100 career hits. Robyn King (Ashby, MA) took the loss, allowing nine hits and six runs, three of which were earned. She struck out nine and walked two to drop to 16-7.
In the nightcap, Napore broke a 2-2 tie with her game-winning home run in the bottom of the 10th. B.U. took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as Leslie Linnemeyer (Glendale, CA) blasted a two-run home run, her third round tripper of the season. Towson tied the game with two runs off B.U. starter Mary Colleran (Valencia, CA) in the bottom of the fifth.
The Terriers did have nine hits, but left 12 runners on base. Kerry and Courtney Herr each had two hits. Colleran (9-7) allowed eight hits and struck out four.
B.U. returns to action on Friday, April 30 when it hosts Vermont for a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader at Malvern Field.
