Softball Sweeps Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Boston University's Mary Colleran pitched a two-hit shutout in the second game to complete the Terriers' sweep of Fairfield, 2-1 and 2-0, at Alumni Softball Field in Fairfield, CT.
In the opener, Kerry Herr had two triples and scored both runs as the Terriers won, 2-1. Robyn King struck out five and allowed just five hits to improve to 10-5 on the season.
In the nightcap, Colleran allowed just two hits and struck out nine to earn her third consecutive shutout. She has not allowed a run in her last 22 innings of work. B.U. scored an unearned run in the first inning, and added another after a RBI single from Aryn Rangel, who was a perfect 3-for-3 in the second game.
Winners of 12 of their last 13 games, the Terriers return to action on Wednesday, April 7 with a doubleheader against Brown. First pitch is 3 p.m. at Malvern Field.
