The Terrier women's soccer team opened its season on a down note with a 2-1 loss at Central Connecticut on Wednesday (September 1st). The Terriers dominated play, outshooting the Blue Devils, 14-5, but could score just once, as Deidre Enos (Milton, MA) scored an unassisted goal off a rebound with just 1:21 to play in the game.
Central Connecticut, which also marked its season-opener, scored once in the first half at 39:59 and again in the second half at 52:30 before Enos closed out the scoring.
Overall, I thought we played pretty well, said Terrier head coach Nancy Feldman. We dominated play throughout, but we just couldn't finish it off. We played well from the 18 to the 18.
The coach was referring to 18-yard box in front of the goalie.
We didn't have enough urgency with our offense, said the coach.
Meghan Lynch (Andover, MA) started in goal for the Terriers and played the first half. She allowed one goal and had 2 saves. Beth Weisman (Potomac, MD) played the second half, allowed one goal, and had one save.
The Terriers are off until next Monday when they host Syracuse University at 1:00 p.m.
B.U. is hoping to establish an NCAA Division 1 attendance record. The current mark is 6024 set a year ago when the University of North Carolina played Notre Dame.
