September 18, 1999 | Women's Soccer
The Terrier women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 double overtime decision at Rutgers on Saturday (September 18th) in a game that had originally been scheduled for Friday. However, tropical storm Floyd caused local flooding in the Piscataway, NJ area forcing the postponement.
It was the second straight double overtime game for the Terriers, who had defeated Northwestern, 4-3, in two overtimes on September 12th.
The loss to Rutgers dropped B.U.'s record to 2-3-0, while the Scarlet Knights, who are ranked in their region, are 4-1-0.
During the 90 minutes of regulation, the Terriers held the advantage in shots, 15-12. However, Rutgers held the edge in overtime, 6-2.
However, neither team scored until the 118:25 mark of the game when the Knights' Gina Ressa scored on a direct kick, putting the ball into the far right hand corner of the net.
The Terriers will try to get back to the .500 mark on Sunday when they travel to the University of Rhode Island.
