Women's Tennis Team Defeats UMass To Remain Undefeated

The women's tennis team improved its record this fall to 2-0 with a 6-3 win over a much-improved UMass team on Sept. 27.
"This is the best UMass team we have played in a long time," said Terrier head coach Lesley Sheehan. "We had a couple of three-set matches, and this was a very good win for us."
The Terriers, who had opened their season with a 9-0 win over New Hampshire, won five of the six singles matches and one of the three doubles matches en route to the victory over the host Minutemen.
The wins came at numbers two, three, four, five, and six singles and number one doubles.
Senior co-captain Carrie Rose won her match at number two singles, 6-4, 6-4; sophomore Alana Marcu won at number three, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4; freshman Lindsey Dynof won at number four, 6-4, 6-3; freshman Elena deMendoza was victorious at number five, 6-4, 6-2; and freshman Hannah Bartell won at number six, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
The only singles loss was at number one where junior Christina Causway bowed, 6-2, 6-3.
However, she came back to team with Carrie Rose to notch the Terriers' point in doubles. The pair combined to post an 8-0 win at number one.
Marcu and deMendoza lost at number two, 8-3, while Dynof and freshman Elisa Glas lost at number three doubles, 8-5.
This was the second of three dual matches during the fall season for the Terriers. Their final match will be October 21st when they travel to Yale. The rest of the fall will be
