Soules Named Conference Player of the Week
November 5, 2001 | Women's Soccer

Senior forward Nicole Soules (Springfield, VA), whose two goals against Northeastern last Saturday (November 3rd) helped lead the Terrier women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over the Huskies and the America East regular-season title, has been named the league's Adidas Player of the Week.
Soules scored the Terriers' first two goals of the game, and they proved to be enough, as B.U. finished the season with a 10-0-1 conference record. It also earned the team the top-seed in the conference tournament, and, with the number one spot, the Terriers will host the semifinals and championship games this weekend.
"I am really excited that Nicole has received this recognition," said Terrier head coach Nancy Feldman, whose team finished with an overall record of 12-5-1.
"At the beginning of the season, she scored some big goals that allowed us to get out of the gate on a successful note," said the coach. "Then, in the middle of the season, she suffered an injury that set her back and did not allow her to be as productive offensively as she would like.
"But, she is healthy now," the coach went on. "She is feeling strong and confident, and her contributions will be vital if we are to be successful during the post-season."
After scoring single goals in three of the Terriers' first six games, Soules managed to score just one goal in the next nine games. It was during this stretch that she was hampered by her injury.
Then, healthy and confident again, she scored a goal in the Terriers' 4-0 win over Vermont on October 28th and closed out the season with her two-goal effort against Northeastern.
She finished the regular-season with seven goals and an assist for 15 points, as she was second on the team in both goals and points. The only player with more was sophomore Rebecca Beyer (Shawnee, KS), who had 8 and 20, respectively.
Her seven goals this season brought her career total to 21, tying her with Stacy Schwartz for fourth on the Terriers' all-time list.
Of Soules' seven goals, four were game-winners-against Buffalo in a 2-1 win over September 9th, against Drexel in a 2-0 shutout on September 23rd, against Towson in a 1-0 victory on October 5th, and against Northeastern in the 3-1 win on November 3rd.
