Unlucky Terriers Lose To Crimson, 4-3

The luck of the Irish certainly was not on the side of the Terrier women's tennis team as it lost a heartbreaking 4-3 decision to host Harvard on St. Patrick's Day (Sunday, March 17th). The loss evened the Terriers' second semester record to 4-4.
Each team won three singles matches, as the outcome was decided in the doubles competition.
Here, Harvard won all three matches, but two of them went into tiebreakers, and the Crimson won both of them.
At number one doubles, junior Christina Causway (Wilson, NC) and senior Carrie Rose (Bloomfield Hills, MI) lost their match 9-8 by losing in the tiebreaker, 7-5. At number two doubles, freshmen Lindsey Dynof (Colts Neck, NJ0 and Elena deMendoza (Madrid, Spain) also lost their match by a 9-8 score, after losing the tiebreaker, 7-3.
Sophomore Alana Marcu (Leonia, NJ) and senior Hsiao Ning Ham (Jersey City, NJ) lost at number three doubles, 8-4.
In singles play, both Rose and Marcu won in three sets. Rose earned her victory with a 7-5, 1-6, 7-5 win at number two. In the meantime, Marcu came back from losing her first set, 3-6, to win the next two sets--6-4, 6-2 to win at number five singles.
DeMendoza notched the Terriers' other singles win at number four--6-3, 6-4.
The Terrier losses in singles play came at number one--Causway by a 6-0, 6-2 score, at number three--Dynof by the score of 7-5, 6-4, and at number six--freshman Hannah Bartell (Rancho Santa Fe, CA), 6-4, 6-3.
