Sophomore Ashley Chassar (Lewiston, NY) scored her second goal of the season in the 102nd minute of action to lift the Terrier women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over host Binghamton on Sunday in a key America East Conference match for both teams.
For the Terriers, who ended a four-game losing streak, it kept them in the thick of the race for a post-season bid to the conference tournament. In the meantime, Binghamton suffered its second straight loss as its record dropped to 8-4-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Should the two teams tie in the final conference standings, the Terriers would receive the edge based on head-to-head competition.
Chassar's goal, which came at the 101:19 mark of the match, also ended a four-game stretch in which the Terriers did not score a goal. Ironically, their last goal also came in the second overtime of a match, and it resulted in a win. The victory came against Boston College in a 2-1 double overtime decision on October 2nd. Since then, the Terriers had been blanked by New Hampshire, 1-0 in overtime; Dartmouth, 1-0; Stony Brook, 1-0; and Harvard, 2-0.
The game-winning goal began when Chassar dribbled the ball past midfield into the Bearcats' end of the field. When she was 30 yards from the goal, she fired a shot diagonally from near the right end line that found the upper left corner of the net.

Junior goalkeeper Jessica Clinton (Valley Stream, NY) had three saves en rout to posting her third shutout of the season and 13th of her career. Earlier this season, she had identical 1-0 wins over Creighton and Maine.
Against Binghamton, the Terriers dominated the statistics, outshooting the Bearcats, 19-7, and enjoying an edge in corner kicks, 8-1.
