Dartmouth freshman Christina Ferraris scored her first collegiate goal in the 62nd minute of action to lead the Big Green to a 1-0 win over the Terriers in women's soccer action at Dartmouth on Sunday.
The loss was the second in a row for the Terriers and their fifth in their last six matches as their overall record dropped to 4-7-1. In the meantime, Dartmouth won its fourth game in a row to improve its record to 5-3-1.
It was the second straight game in which the Terriers had been held scoreless as they were shut out by the identical 1-0 score at the University of New Hampshire on Friday. The Terriers have now scored just 10 goals through their first 12 games this year and have been blanked five times.
Ferraris, who had a team-leading five shots against the Terriers, scored the game-winner on a nifty pass from junior back Janet Light and beat B.U. junior goalie Jessica Clinton (Valley Stream, NY) at the 61:51 mark of the match. Clinton had an excellent game, as she stopped 11-of-12 Dartmouth shots on goal.
Dartmouth dominated the statistics, outshooting B.U. by a 21-7 margin. The discrepancy was particularly noteworthy in the second half when the Big Green had a 12-2 advantage. Dartmouth also had a marked advantage in corner kicks, 7-3.
