Terriers Lose Tough 4-3 Decision To Brown
March 20, 2002 | Women's Tennis
Despite the efforts of sophomore Lindsey Dynof (Colts Neck, NJ), who won her match at number two singles and combined with sophomore Elena deMendoza (Madrid, Spain) to win at number two doubles, the Terriers dropped a hard-fought, 4-3, decision to Brown on Wednesday (March 20th).
As has been the case throughout the season, the Terriers lost the point in doubles where Dynof and deMendoza won the only match, 8-4. Senior Christina Causway (Wilson, N) and freshman Silvia Guglielmi (Rome, Italy) lost at number one, 8-5, while junior Alana Marcu (Leonia, NJ) and sophomore Hannah Bartell (Rancho Santa Fe, CA) lost at number three, 8-2. In singles play, Dynof lost her first set, 3-6, but rallied in the second and third sets, winning them 6-2, 6-3 and a point for the Terriers. Causway also bounced back to win her match at number one singles after she lost her first set, 4-6. She came back with identical 6-3 wins in the second and third sets. The Terriers' other win in singles came at number five where Marcu won in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3.
Unfortunately, the Terriers could not come up with the decisive fourth point as they dropped tough matches at numbers three, four, and six singles. deMendoza lost at number three, 6-3, 6-4, while Guglielmi battled through a 7-6, 6-3 loss. Finally, sophomore Elisa Glas (Irun, Spain) lost at number six singles, 6-4, 6-4.
