NEW YORK - Freshman Erin Katims (Boca Raton, FL) and sophomore Laura Ahmes (Sarasota, FL) each posted two wins in singles competition to highlight the Terrier women's tennis team's performance at the USTA National Tennis Center College Invitational over the weekend.
The tournament was held at the tennis center where the U.S. Open is held. In fact, next to the Open, it was the largest tournament held at the tennis center, as 16 schools were involved. Among the 16 were Harvard and the Universities of Kansas, Kentucky, Washington, and Michigan, all of which played in the 2002 NCAA Division 1 Tournament. The other teams that participated were Boston College, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia, Princeton, Penn, Army, Rutgers, and Penn State.
After losing her first match in B Flight singles to Kentucky's Danielle Petrisko, 6-0, 6-3, Katims came back to win her next two matches-6-4, 6-2 over Kentucky's Kristen Steinbeck and 4-6-, 6-4 (16-14) over Princeton's Jessica Seibet.

Then, in the doubles competition, playing in Flight A, Katims teamed with Ahmes to post a 1-2 record. They defeated Brown, 8-4, but lost to Harvard, 8-3, and Boston College, 8-5.

Dynof, who has the Terriers' best singles record this fall with a 7-4 mark, won her first match over Princeton's Stephanie Berg, 6-2, 7-6. She then lost back-to-back matches to Washington's Dinka Hadzic, 6-3, 6-3, and to Kansas' Emily Haylock, 7-5, 6-3.
