Clinton Named America East Player of the Week

BOSTON - Boston University senior goalkeeper and co-captain Jessica Clinton (Valley Stream, N.Y.) is the America East women's soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 29 through Oct. 5. During three games this week, Clinton allowed only two goals and tied the school record for career shutouts.
Clinton started off the week with five saves and one goal allowed, leading the Terriers to a 1-1 deadlock through double overtime against Harvard on Sept. 30. In America East match-ups against Vermont and Maine, Clinton saved five shots in each. In addition, the 2-0 shutout against Vermont proved to be Clinton's 20th career shutout, tying the school mark for career shutouts. Clinton allowed only one goal in another double overtime tie, this time versus Maine on Oct. 5.
So far this season, Clinton has posted a .781 save percentage, 4.17 saves per game ratio, and 1.08 goals against average, which has put her at 5th, 7th, and 3rd in the conference in each respective category. The goalkeeper has also earned four shutouts this season.
Clinton is the first Terrier women's soccer player to earn Player of the Week honors this season.
Clinton and the rest of the Terriers hope to continue their unbeaten streak of seven games on Wednesday, Oct. 8 when Dartmouth visits Nickerson Field. The game begins at 4 p.m.
