Women's Tennis Team Bounces Back With Win Over Army

The Terrier women's tennis team, which had lost its first match of the spring on Saturday (February 23rd) in a 6-1 decision to Harvard, bounced back the following day with a 6-1 triumph over visiting West Point.
The victory improved the women's record to 3-1 during the spring and 5-3 overall.
The Terriers opened the match by gaining the one point for winning two of the three doubles matches. Juniors Lindsey Dynof (Colts Neck, NJ) and Elena deMendoza (Madrid, Spain) defeated Annie Collier and Megan Noble at number one, 8-5. Senior captain Alana Marcu (Leonia, NJ) and junior Elisa Glas (Irun, Spain) assured the Terriers of the doubles point when they posted an 8-5 win over Lauren Leftin and Pam Chavez at number three doubles. At number two doubles, Terrier freshmen Laura Ahmes (Sarasota, FL) and Aimee Charest (Somerset) lost, 8-4, to Army's Marissa Limsiaco and Lyndsay Nott.
In the singles competition, the Terriers swept to straight set wins in five of the six matches. Their only loss was at number five where Glas won her first set, 6-0, against Nott. However, in the second set, Glas trailed, 2-1, when she had to retire due to an injury.
At number one singles, Dynof defeated Limsiaco by identical 6-3 scores. DeMendoza posted 6-4, 6-4 wins over Collier at number two. Charest looked impressive with a 6-2, 6-1win over Noble at number three. Marcu beat Leftin at number four, 6-2, 6-4, while Ahmes bested Rebecca Feldman at number six, 6-4, 6-0.
