Terriers Lose To Florida Atlantic In Spring Break Finale

The Terrier women's tennis team closed out its annual spring break trip to Florida with a 5-2 loss to Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, FL.
The Lady Owls, who improved their record to 10-4 with the victory, opened the match by taking the point for winning two of the three doubles matches.
The Terriers' victory in doubles came at number two where senior captain Alana Marcu (Leonia, NJ) and junior Elisa Glas (Irun, Spain) defeated FAU's Krystel Borg and Tania Rivera, 8-2. At number one doubles, juniors Elena deMendoza (Madrid, Spain) and Lindsey Dynof (Colts Neck, NJ) lost to Alena Dvorakova and Karolina Roubickova, 8-4. Then, at number three doubles, freshmen Aimee Charest (Somerset) and Monica Shepherd (Austin, TX) lost to Maria Aguirre-Gomez and Jessica Burrow, 8-4.
Trailing 1-0 when the singles play started, the Terriers lost the first singles match to report in when Roubickova defeated deMendoza, 6-1, 6-2 at number two singles, as B.U. trailed, 2-0.
The Terriers then cut their deficit to 2-1 when freshman Laura Ahmes (East Sarasota, FL) defeated Stephanie Beaulieu, 6-4, 6-2, at number five singles.
However, FAU put the match out of reach by winning the next two singles matches. Aguirre-Gomez defeated Glas, 6-2, 6-1, at number three singles, while Dvorakova followed with a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Dynof at number one.
Charest provided the Terriers with their other point when she defeated Borg, 4-6, 6-4 (10-8) at number six. The final point of the match went to the Lady Owls when Rivera bested Marcu, 7-6, 6-4.
