Terriers Lose To Brown In First Post Break Match

The Terrier women's tennis team marked its first match of the post-spring break season with a 5-0 loss at Brown. The team's six previous matches had been played during its annual spring break trip to the south.
Senior captain Alana Marcu (Leonia, NJ) came the closest to scoring a point for the Terriers, as she lost her match at number four singles, 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 to Brown's Alex Arlak.
Brown started the match off by winning the match point in doubles as the Bruins won all three matches. Arlak and Kerry Meath defeated Terrier junior Elena deMendoza (Madrid, Spain) and freshman Aimee Charest (Somerset), 8-4, at number one doubles. At number two, Victoria Beck and Stephanie Falconi defeated B.U. junior Elisa Glas (Irun, Spain) and Marcu, 8-2. Finally, at number three, Brown's Rachel Williams and Kim Singer bested junior Lindsey Dynof (Colts Neck, NJ) and freshman Monica Shepherd (Austin, TX), 8-6.
Dynof lost to Meath, 6-3, 6-4, at number one singles, while deMendoza dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Beck. At number three, Ahmes lost in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, to Yelena Klurfeld.
Glas and Singer were scheduled to play at number five singles, while Charest and Falconi were lined up to play at number six. However, neither match was played.
