BOSTON - The 2003 America East Softball Championship will be held Thursday, May 8 through Saturday, May 10 at University Field on the Stony Brook University campus. The four-team tournament is a double-elimination format. It marks the first time the Seawolves have hosted an America East Championship.
The winner of the America East Championship earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Softball Championship.
Seven America East member institutions-- University at Albany, Binghamton University, Boston University, University of Hartford, University of Maine, Stony Brook University and University of Vermont—will compete for the four championship berths.
The seven teams will each play a 24-game regular-season conference schedule with a four-game series vs. each conference opponent.
Last season Boston University won its first America East Championship since 1997. The Terriers also won the inaugural America East Championship in 1992 and again in 1993 and 1996. Maine won its only championship in 1994.

Friday, May 9 Game 3-- Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2, 11 a.m. Game 4-- Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2, 1:30 p.m. Game 5-- Winner Game 4 vs. Loser Game 3, 4 p.m.
Saturday, May 10 Game 6-- Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 5, 12 noon Game 7-- same teams (if necessary)
