BOSTON - Freshman pitcher Ashlee Freeman (Northridge, Calif. / Oaks Christian) was named America East's softball Pitcher of the Week on April 12 after pitching three straight complete-game shutouts in a sweep at UMBC on April 9-10.
Freeman recorded three shutout wins during the week - all at UMBC. She allowed no runs in 17.0 innings while striking out 13. Overall, including two appearances against Hofstra, she went 3-1 with a 2.13 ERA and 19 strikeouts.
It's the second weekly honor for Freeman, who earned the league's Rookie of the Week award on March 22.
Overall, she's 10-11 with a 2.48 ERA and a team-leading 89 strikeouts. She's pitched 20 complete games.
The Terriers are scheduled to play an America East doubleheader on Wednesday, April 14 at 3 p.m., but the possibility of rain on Tuesday into Wednesday threatens those games.
