Women's Tennis Loses To BC In Regular-Season Finale

CHESTNUT HILL, MA-Sophomore Laura Ahmes (Sarasota, FL) came away with the lone win on Saturday as the Terrier women's tennis team closed out its regular season with a 6-1 loss to the nation's 55th-ranked Boston College Eagles.
Ahmes won a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Amy Molden at number five singles in the match played at the Flynn Recreation Center.
The only other win the Terriers mustered came at number one doubles when senior captain Lindsey Dynof (Colts Neck, NJ) and freshman Erin Katims (Boca Raton, FL) defeated Emily Helberg and Nida Waseem, 8-2, at number one doubles. However, the Eagles came away with wins at numbers two and three doubles to capture the doubles point. At number two, Alison Ashley and Morgan Landes edged senior Elisa Glas (Irun, Spain) and Ahmes, 8-5. In the final doubles match, Emily Yeomans and Szilvia Szegedi bested senior Elena deMendoza (Madrid, Spain) and sophomore Monica Shepherd (Austin, TX), 8-2.
In singles play, Dynof lost her first set to Szegedi, 6-1, at number one and then had to retire in the second set after falling behind, 3-0.
At second singles, deMendoza lost to Ashley, 6-2, 7-5, while Katims lost by the identical 6-2, 6-2 scores to Waseem at number three. Glas and sophomore Aimee Charest (Somerset, MA) had the hardest fought matches of the afternoon for the Terriers. Glas lost to Landes at number four, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 1-0 (6), while Charest lost to Helberg at number six, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
The Terriers are off until April 30th when they play in the America East Tournament.
