Women's Tennis Opens Season At Volkl Tournament

HANOVER, NH-The Terrier women's tennis team opened its season with a strong showing at theVolkl Shootout hosted by Dartmouth University on Saturday and Sunday, September 18-19.
Three Terriers posted identical 2-1 records in singles play. They were sophomore Erin Katims (Boca Raton, FL) in the A Division, freshman Gina Sabatino (Waltham, MA) in C and sophomore Gabbi Hernandez (Palo Alto, CA) in F.
Rounding out the singles performers were junior Cheri LaPane (Reading, MA), who was 1-0 in Division H; and juniors Laura Ahmes (Sarasota, FL), Monica Shepherd (Austin, TX), and Aimee Charest (Somerset, MA), who each posted a 1-2 record in Divisions B, D, and E, respectively.
The doubles teams faired equally as well as the combination of Sabatino and Ahmes went undefeated with two wins in Division A as did the team of Shepherd and freshman Katerina Draganova (Coral Springs, FL) in Division C. Draganova and Charest also played well together in Division C, finishing the tournament with a 1-0 record.
Finally, the Terriers had three teams compete in the B Division, and they were all 0-1. Katims had two partners-Shepherd and Charest, while Sabatino and Draganova teamed together. Shepherd and Charest also played in the C Division and were 0-1. In the D Division, LaPane and Hernandez were 0-2.
