BOSTON - Senior Jamie Haas (Houston, Texas) was named America East's softball Player of the Week for the second time as she batted .611 and led Boston University to a 4-1 week.
It's the second conference award for Haas, who also took home Player of the Week accolades on March 14. It was a big week for the shortstop as she was named the B.U. athletic department's Mildred Barnes Award winner on Wednesday at the B.U. Student-Athlete Recognition Reception. The award goes to the University's top female athlete. Haas is the first Terrier softball player to earn the honor.
On the field, Haas went 5-for-8 in a doubleheader sweep of Harvard on April 14, getting the game-winning hit in the eighth inning of a 4-3 win over the Crimson.
At Binghamton on April 16-17, Haas batted .600 (6-for-10) in the three-game series, scoring four runs as the Terriers took two of three from the Bearcats.
For the week, she batted .611 on 11-for-18 hitting and scored seven runs with a .632 on-base percentage. She had a hit in each game and at least two hits in four of the five contests.
Haas leads America East in batting (.416), stolen bases (19), runs (28), on-base percentage (.482), and is tied for second in triples (3).
