Freeman, Grapensteter Earn Conference Accolades

BOSTON - Sophomore pitcher Ashlee Freeman (Northridge, Calif.) and freshman pitcher Jenna Grapensteter (Bothell, Wash.) have earned America East Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, it was announced by the conference on Monday, May 2.
It is the second-consecutive Pitcher of the Week honor for Freeman, while it is the first such award for Grapensteter, who helped lead the Terriers to a perfect 5-0 record last week. B.U. is 23-16-1 on the season, 12-4 in the America East.
Freeman went 3-0 on the week, allowing just 13 hits, 5 earned runs, and four walks, while striking out 16 in 19.0 innings of work. Her ERA for the week was 1.84. She picked up her wins against conference opponents Vermont, Maine, and Stony Brook. On the season, Freeman is now 11-8 with a 2.59 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 132.2 innings.
Grapensteter was flawless in 6.2 innings of work, earning the victory in the Terriers' 11-5 decision over Maine on April 28. She entered the game in the third inning and pitched 4.2 innings, allowing no runs on four hits with four strikeouts. On the season, Grapensteter is 5-1 with a 4.04 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 44 innings pitched.
The Terriers, who are currently riding a 13 game winning streak, play at Massachusetts on Tuesday, May 3. Game time is 5 pm.
