Women's Soccer Hosts Girl Scout Clinic
September 20, 2005 | Women's Soccer
On Sunday, Sept. 18, the Boston University women???s soccer program hosted a clinic for local area girl scouts. The girl scouts vocally and enthusiastically supported BU???s 2-2 tie against Princeton prior to the clinic, then stuck around for an hour-long demonstration of soccer, fitness and fun with various BU coaches and players.
???It is important that the Boston University student athletes understand the importance of giving back to kids, and to their (our) local community,??? said Terrier head coach Nancy Feldman, who is heavily involved in youth soccer programs throughout the city. ???We must all act on our responsibility, as positive female athlete role models, to inspire girls to participate in sports, as it sends powerful messages, that women can be healthy, strong, fierce competitors and leaders.???
Approximately 60 girls participated in the first-ever clinic, and were comprised of troops from the Patriot Trail Girl Scouts. The Boston University men???s and women???s soccer programs continue to support community outreach projects throughout the season, opening their doors to other youth programs such as Massachusetts Premier Soccer, Boston Area Youth Soccer, CityKicks, New England Scores and many others.
