Women's Tennis Blanks Army, 7-0

BOSTON - The Boston University women’s tennis team blanked Army, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Track & Tennis Center. After downing Montreal by the same score to open the spring season on Friday, the Terriers are now 2-0 overall and have yet to be defeated in a match.
In doubles action, the pairs of sophomore Gina Sabatino (Waltham, Mass.) and senior Monica Shepherd (Austin, Texas), freshmen Danielle Abraham (Waukesha, Wis.) and Cori Lefkowith (Clayton, Mo.), and junior Erin Katims (Boca Raton, Fla.) and freshman Yana Sadovskaya (Riga, Latvia), each posted 8-3 wins for the point.
Similar to Friday's match versus Montreal, the Terriers pulled away in the singles competition, sweeping all six matches by a combined score of 72-13.
Moving into the No. 1 singles spot after playing No. 2 on Friday, Sabatino dominated for a 6-0, 6-1 victory, before Katims won at No. 2, 6-2, 6-0. A trio of rookies each captured a point at Nos. 3-5, as Lefkowith beat out her opponent, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 3, Abraham won 6-2, 6-1, at No. 4, and Sadovskaya came through with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 5. Shepherd wrapped things up in the sixth spot with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking.
The Terriers hit the road for the first time on Saturday, when they take on Harvard at 1:00 p.m.
