October 24, 2006 | Field Hockey
BOSTON - After turning in the best offensive weekend of her young career, freshman Suus Dekker has been named the America East Rookie of the Week for field hockey, as announced by the league office on Monday. Dekker scored both goals in a thrilling 2-1 overtime road victory against Albany to move the Terriers into a tie for first place in the league standings.
The freshman sent home a rebound with 44 seconds left before halftime to give the visitors a 1-0 edge. After the Terriers earned a quick penalty corner in overtime, Dekker redirected a shot by Holly Wiles to the boards to end the game just 40 seconds into overtime. On Sunday, Dekker tallied her sixth goal of the year to help BU post a 7-0 victory over Dartmouth.
Dekker and the Terriers will return to action on Wednesday when they play host to cross-town rival Harvard. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
