
Women's Tennis Competes At ITA Regionals

HANOVER, N.H. - Senior Erin Katims (Boca Raton, Fla.) and sophomores Danielle Abraham (Waukesha, Wis.), Cori Lefkowith (Clayton, Mo.) and Yana Sadovskaya (Riga, Latvia) were invited to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Regional Championships this past weekend at Dartmouth College.
Katims was the lone Terrier invited directly into the main draw for singles. She won her first match 6-1, 6-4 over Hampton's Katerina Jetsova. However, Katims fell victim to Boston College's Dasha Cherkasov in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
In the qualifying singles, Lefkowith found success in her first match, coming back from a one-set deficit to win 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 over Brown's Brett Finklestein. Lefkowith then dropped a 7-6, 6-2 decision to Dartmouth's Marybeth Winningham.
Abraham and Sadovskaya had a rough go of it in their singles matches, each going down in the first match. Abraham fell 6-4, 6-3 to BC's Lindsey Nash and Sadovskaya was defeated by Yale's Sarah Lederhandler 6-1, 6-3.
In the doubles main draw, the teams of Sadovskaya and Abraham and Lefkowith and Katims each lost their matches - Sadovskaya/Abraham to Syracuse's Maria Vasilyeva and Olga Votavova (8-6) and Lefkowith/Katims to Alison Adamski and Nataly Tumsevica, a pair from St. John's (8-3).
