Spuehler Named to NFHCA All-America Second Team
November 20, 2006 | Field Hockey
BOSTON - Junior Pam Spuehler became just the sixth player in the history of Boston University field hockey to earn multiple All-America honors, as the midfielder was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association Division I All-America Second Team on Monday. Last season, Spuehler was a third-team selection.
Spuehler, a three-time all-region selection, was the only player from the America East Conference to earn a spot on one of the three All-America squads. This fall, Spuehler was a dominant player on both ends of the field, contributing five goals and six assists to go along with a pair of defensive saves. The Most Outstanding Player of the 2006 America East Championships, Spuehler was a repeat selection to the All-Conference First Team.
The last Terrier to earn back-to-back All-America honors was Jessica Alcorta, who earned first-team accolades as a senior in 1999 after earning a spot on the third team as a junior.
Spuehler helped the Terriers post a 14-7 record this fall and claim their second America East title in as many years.
