
Detwiler, Louie, Shields Named 2007 Softball Tri-Captains

BOSTON – Seniors Brittany Detwiler, Chiya Louie and Brandi Shields have been named 2007 tri-captains for the Boston University softball team, as announced by head coach Shawn Rychcik. In three years the trio has compiled an 81-70-1 overall record for the softball program. In 2006 the Terrier’s made a run to the America East Championship game with Albany.
Detwiler made 25 appearances in the circle in 2006, earning a 9-10 overall record in 118.2 innings pitched and struck out 93 batters. The Souderton, Pa. native, ranks sixth on BU’s all-time appearances list with 69 in her career. Detwiler has thrown 28 complete games, which ranks her 10th on the all-time career list. The senior also ranks ninth in career shutouts (8) and 10th in wins (22).
Louie, second on BU’s all-time home runs list with 18, earned a .300 batting average in 2006. The Seattle, Wash., native, knocked in her 70th career RBI in the ninth inning against Buffalo on March 11, placing her 10th on the all-time career list.
Shields (Schererville, Ind.) started in all 58 games and led the team in doubles with 11 and fifth in the America East in stolen bases with 21. The second baseman has stolen 35 bases in her career, placing her tied for sixth on BU’s all-time career list.
