No. 29 FIU Prevails Over Women's Tennis, 7-0
March 25, 2007 | Women's Tennis
Miami, Fla. - No. 29 Florida International earned a 7-0 victory over the visiting Boston University Terriers Sunday morning. FIU improves to 13-4, while BU falls to 8-4 on the year.
FIU picked up the doubles point with wins at the first and second slots. Terriers Rebecca Row (Austin, Tex.) and Yana Sadovskaya (Riga, Latvia) won their match at third doubles, downing Maria Dolores Pazo and Marijana Cutuk, 8-6.
Florida International swept the singles matches to complete the win. Row and classmate Elizabeth Corrao (Holden, Mass.) each pushed their first sets to a tie-breaker. Row ultimately dropped a 7-6, 6-3 decision to Dolores Pazo at No. 3 singles, while Corrao fell 7-6, 6-2 to Maria Vallasciani at sixth singles. Row's loss marked just the fourth time the freshman has not won a singles match this season and only the second time she has lost in the No. 3 singles slot.
BU returns to action on Saturday, March 31 when the Terriers host Dartmouth at the Track and Tennis Center at 12 p.m.
