
Women's Tennis Wins 14th Straight America East Title

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Boston University continued its dominance of the America East Women’s Tennis Championship on Sunday afternoon as the top-seeded Terriers swept No. 3 UMBC, 4-0, in the title match at the Connecticut Tennis Center in New Haven, Conn.
With the victory, Boston University earns America East’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship and has now won 14 straight conference crowns and 18 of the 19 title events in league history.
The Terriers earned the doubles point as senior co-captain Erin Katims (Boca Raton, Fla.) and freshman Francine Whu (Staten Island, N.Y.) won at the No. 1 spot (8-0) and freshman Rebecca Row (Austin, Tex.)and sophomore Yana Sadovskaya (Riga, Latvia) were victorious in the No. 3 hole (8-4).
Whu won her match at No. 4 singles. Freshman Elizabeth Corrao (Holden, Mass.) also won at No. 6 singles, while sophomore Cori Lefkowith (Clayton, Mo.) earned a win at No. 5 singles en route to the tournament’s Most Outstanding Performer honors, which was voted on by the league’s head coaches.
