
Softball Drops 3-2 Decision to Penn State

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Boston University softball team closed out the 2008 Under Armour Classic with a 3-2 loss to Penn State on Sunday in Clearwater, Fla. Sophomore pitcher Cassidi Hardy was charged with the loss in the circle, while juniors Christy Leath and Melissa Dubay drove in the Terriers' two runs. BU falls to 8-10 overall and will host its home opener against Boston College on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
BU took an early one-run lead in the first when Dubay knocked in freshman April Setterlund and it added to its lead in the fourth with Leath's RBI; however, the Nittany Lions drove in the three in the seventh to earn the come-from-behind victory.
Hardy pitched 6.1 innings, allowed three earned runs and struck out three batters, as the sophomore hurler falls to 4-3 overall.
BU will host its home opener on Wednesday, March 19 when it takes on cross-town rival Boston College at BU Softball Field at 3:00 p.m.
