BOSTON - Freshman Melanie Delgado has been named the America East's Rookie of the Week for her efforts over five games last week. Delgado hit .357 with three RBI, including the eventual game winner in game two of the series with UMBC. Delgado was crucial in the Boston University softball team's three-game sweep of the Retrievers, which propelled the squad into first place in the America East standings.
Delgado picks up her first rookie award of the season after batting .357 (5-for-14) last week. The freshman drove in three runs on five hits with two runs. She walked once and struck out just once, while going one-for-one in stolen bases. Delgado, the Terriers' second baseman, also recorded 10 put outs, seven assists and just one error.
BU will travel to Maine for a single game at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday and will visit cross-town rival Harvard on Thursday in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
