BOSTON - The Boston University softball team will make the short trek to Cambridge, Mass., on Thursday afternoon for a rematch with Harvard at 4:00 p.m. The two squads squared off last week with the Crimson claiming the slim 1-0 victory. BU enters with a 29-17 overall mark and three-game win streak, while Harvard is 24-20 and recently split a four-game series with Dartmouth.
Harvard's two wins over the Big Green solidified its Ivy League North Division regular-season title, and it will now face Princeton over the weekend in the conference's championship. Lauren Murphy leads the squad with a .361 batting average to go along with seven home runs and 23 RBI. Jennifer Francis is the team's RBI leader with 37, while batting .341 on the season. On the mound, Dana Roberts has been consistent with a 1.88 ERA in 18 appearances and a 7-3 record, and Margaux Black owns a perfect 6-0 mark with a 2.53 ERA.
The Terriers are fresh off a three-game sweep of Binghamton and need to take just one from Albany this weekend to capture their second consecutive America East regular-season title. Freshman April Setterlund is currently batting a team-high .370 with 11 doubles and 14 RBI. Junior Melissa Dubay has driven in 29 runs and hit a team-high six over the fence, while classmate Brooke Hudson needs just one double to tie the single-season school record of 13. Sophomore Cassidi Hardy owns a 14-5 overall record and is undefeated in conference action. Hardy is one of only three AE pitchers to be undefeated in league action, and she has earned more victories than any other hurler in the conference. She has a 1.95 ERA with 120 strikeouts.
Following Thursday's contest, the Terriers will travel to Albany for the showdown with the Great Danes. This weekend's series will determine the regular-season champion.
