Dubay, Setterlund Named to All-Northeast Region Second Team

BOSTON - Junior shortstop Melissa Dubay and freshman outfielder April Setterlund have been named to the TPS Louisville Slugger Second Team All-Northeast Region squad, as announced on Friday. The two honorees helped guide the Boston University softball team to a 29-23 overall record and 15-6 America East mark, en route to its ninth consecutive conference tournament appearance.
Setterlund and Dubay were the team's leading batters throughout the season and finished the 2008 campaign with .354 and .351 batting averages, respectively. The duo also led the offense to a .265 team batting average, good for second in the America East, and a conference-high .354 on-base percentage. Setterlund and Dubay also provided solid defense for the Terriers, who ranked first in the league in fielding percentage (.972) and turned double plays (26) - a category the squad also ranks fourth nationally.
Individually, Setterlund, the 2008 America East Rookie of the Year, ranked fourth in the conference in batting (.354), runs scored (34), hits (58) and doubles (12) and the Torrance, Calif., native was one shy of tying a single-season school record for two-baggers. One April 14, she was honored as the AE Rookie of the Week after batting .476 over six games and connecting on 10 hits.
Dubay, who from Feb. 29 to April 2 boasted a 20-game hit streak, finished ranked fourth in the conference in slugging percentage (.570), on-base percentage (.441) and third in RBI (31) and walks (25). At season's end, the Auburn, Wash., native was named to the America East All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive year.
