
Terriers Cruise to 11-0 Victory over Binghamton

Vestal, N.Y. - The Boston University softball team (38-16, 14-6 AE) scored nine runs in the second inning and two more in the third as it cruised past Binghamton (7-36, 2-19 AE), 11-0, in the regular-season finale on Sunday afternoon. Nine different Terriers recorded at least one hit, including freshman Emily Roesch, who went 4-for-4 in the batter's box.
Senior Shayne Lotito also recorded multiple hits, going 2-for-4, to go along with two RBIs. Classmate Nora Militz capped off a productive weekend with two runs on one hit and junior Rachel Hebert drove in two runners on a triple to right field.
Junior Cassidi Hardy improved to 22-5 in the pitcher's circle with six strikeouts, one walk and one hit. She pitched three innings to draw to within one frame of the career innings pitched record. Sophomore Kelley Engman came in for the final two innings and upheld the shutout, retiring all six batters she faced.
The Terriers exploded for nine runs in the second inning, highlighted by Hebert's two-run three-bagger to right field. Lotito and Militz each scored two runs on respective doubles in that frame.
BU tacked on two final runs in the third as junior Rachel Moeller doubled to left field to plate freshman Kayla Kruper and Roesch capped it off with an RBI single to shortstop.
The America East Softball Championships will take place from May 7-9 in Stony Brook, N.Y.
