After defeating two nationally-ranked opponents in singles action during the ECAC Women's Tennis National Indoor Championships, sophomore Stefanie Nunic has been named the GoTerriers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.
The reigning America East Player and Rookie of the Year started the tournament strong on Friday with a dominating performance against No. 43 Yale's Stephanie Kent. Nunic defeated the 87th-ranked Bulldog, 6-1, 6-2.
She then came back the following day with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Cornell's Christine Ordway in the top singles match.
On Sunday, she earned her second win of the season and third career over a ranked opponent with a 7-6, 7-6 victory over No. 63 Brown's Casey Herzberg, who is 89th in the lateast Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings.
Last season, she knocked off Florida International's Mariana Muci, who finished the season 104th in the country.
