BOSTON - Junior April Setterlund and senior Andrea Walkonen have been named GoTerriers.com Student-Athletes of the Week following record-setting performances.
April Setterlund - Softball - Junior - Torrance, Calif.
Junior April Setterlund went 13-for-14 with 17 RBIs in a five-win week for BU. Setterlund collected six singles, two doubles, one triple and four home runs. Against Holy Cross she set single-game marks for RBIs (7) and total bases (10). Additionally, she tied the single-game record for home runs (2). Her slugging percentage was 2.071, while she recorded a .947 on-base percentage. She hit in 12 consecutive at-bats and is now on a 10-game hitting streak. With her 11-for-11 batting performance in four games, she improved her season batting average from .525 to .597.
Andrea Walkonen - Track & Field - Senior - Jaffrey, N.H.
Senior Andrea Walkonen had a memorable start to her outdoor season, breaking a 24-year-old school record in the 10,000-meter run while finishing third overall in the event at the Stanford Invitational with the ninth-best time in NCAA history. Walkonen's time of 32:31.33 bests the previous school record of 32:41.9 that was set by Lisa Welch in 1986. The Jaffrey, N.H., native was an All-American in both cross country and indoor track during the 2008-09 season and also holds the BU indoor record for the 5,000-meter run, which she set last year.
