
Women's Tennis Tops St. John's, 5-2

QUEENS, N.Y. - Playing its first match in two weeks, the Boston University women's tennis team showed little rust with a 5-2 victory at St. John's on Saturday afternoon. Improving to 10-6, the Terriers are now a perfect 3-0 against the Big East.
BU earned the victory by sweeping through doubles and capturing four of the six singles contests. The Red Storm dropped to 9-8 after seeing its three-match win streak snapped.
Junior Stefanie Nunic and sophomore Vivien Laszloffy helped set the tone by earning an 8-4 decision at the top doubles spot. They then captured singles points at No. 1 and 2, respectively, in straight sets.
Sophomore Jessi Linero and freshman Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis had similar success by first teaming together at the No. 2 doubles spot and then winning in singles action at No. 5 and 4, respectively.
BU completed the doubles sweep at No. 3 with senior Vanessa Steiner and junior Monika Mical pulling out an 8-1 win.
The Terriers' weekend continues Sunday at St. John's with a potential preview of the America East Championship against Binghamton. Action is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
Last May in the league title game, the Terr.iers defeated the top-seeded Bearcats, 4-3, after Petra Santini won her final three games in singles action for the three-set victory
