BOSTON - Freshman Holli Floetker has been named the America East Pitcher of the Week, while red-shirt freshman Chelsea Kehr has been named the AE Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday night.
Floetker allowed just one earned run in seven innings of work last week to improve to 12-4 (7-1 AE) on the season. She lowered her ERA to 1.87, which leads America East starting pitchers. A three-time America East Pitcher of the Week, Floetker fanned five and scattered six hits over six innings in a 3-2 win over Binghamton Saturday.
Kehr, the team's starting first baseman, earned her third conference Rookie of the Week honor of the season after batting .667 (8-for-12) with two doubles, two homers, four runs scored and five RBIs in four games last week. Kehr's best game of the weekend came Sunday at Binghamton when she went 4-for-4 with a double, homer and three RBIs. Kehr brought her season RBI total to 44, which ranks second at BU for a single season.
The America East Softball Championship will begin on Thursday (May 12) and will run through Saturday (May 14) at BU Softball Field. The two-time defending AE champion Terriers are set to take on fourth-seeded UMBC on Thursday at 1 p.m. It will mark the third time in the last five years that BU has hosted the tourney.
